How could i use this tool as a professional educator?
The ability to bookmark webpages from any computer in the world with internet access is the huge advantage of this tool. Previously, before finding out about Delicious I would find it difficult to work on other computers besides my own because I did not have direct access to webpages that I had bookmarked. I completed my PTP3 Practicum in Roxby Downs, which is a remote location in the far north region of South Australia. I was staying with my boyfriend and his family and using their computer for my planning and research, and I found that I needed to bookmark quite a few webpages that i knew would be useful in the future. I wish that I had joined Delicious at that stage so that they could all have been easily saved to my account!
Having that 'access at your fingertips' with Delicious, it has now become much easier to keep track of quality web pages, and that is exactly what technology and Web 2.0 tools should be doing for people: make things easier and more efficient.
How could i use this tool in the Primary Classroom?
Delicious could well be used in the primary classroom. I think it would be most useful for students to use whenthey are undertaking class research projects. There is always that problem of student's not being able to find relevant and useful information on the web; because there search on google or other search engines is too broad. Delicious could be used to the student's advantage in one of two ways:
1) have the teacher sieve through webpages and tag the ones that would be deemed relevant for the class to view and use in research projects.
2) have students tag relevant web pages that they think the rest of the class could use aswell. It might also be a good idea to have the students check with the teacher before tagging, so irrelevant pages aren't being tagged.
